A urinary tract infection also called UTI is often caused due to the severe growth of bacteria in the urinary tract. This infection may occur in anybody’s body but is mostly found in the case of women. Nearly 95% cases of UTI are caused by bacteria E-Coil. It generally starts spreading at the opening of the urethra and the travels up to the bladder. UTI is mostly caused during sex activity as the bacteria can penetrate more easily inside the inner linings of the urethra. Sexual activities push the bacteria deeper in both male and female organs. Urinating as soon as you have sex is the best contraceptive way to avoid such infections.

Urinary tract infections can be cured by home remedies if they are minor. Some of these remedies are given below:

  • Drink plenty of water. Drinking a lot of water would result in frequent peeing which would flush out the harmful bacteria. Also, ample intake of water would dilute the urine which contains concentrated acids and would result in less painful pees.

  • Maintain a good hygiene. Have a good amount of vitamin c in your diet. Vitamin c products are acidic in nature and the action of acids inside the urinary tract will kill the bacteria and inhibit its further growth.

  • Use heat-pads to relieve the pain. Sometimes urinary infections can be really painful. To get relief from this pain use heat pads that are easily available in the market or apply a wet towel soaked in lukewarm water on your abdomen.

  • Avoid these C’s from your diet. When suffering from a UTI never ever try to intake citrus fruits, caffeine, chocolates and carbonated drinks. These may cause irritation in your tract.

  • Drink soda. Not the soda available in the soft drinks! Mix a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass full of water and drink it in the morning as soon as you get up. It lessens the acidity of your urine and helps you find resistance to the pseudo urge to pee. But this soda water should be consumed for only four to five days as it can imbalance the pH inside the body which would further give way to other problems.

  • Have Cucumbers. Cucumbers contain a lot of water in them and provide you an alternative measure for maintaining a good amount of water level in your body.

  • Have Cranberry juice or extracts. Cranberry juice is an old preventive measure for UTI’s but

its helpful results are not proven in many cases. Still drinking unsweetened cranberry juice keeps away bacteria from sticking on the walls of the urinary bladder and makes a bio-film which results in a good preventive measure.

  • Wiping the private areas. Always wipe front to back and keep the vaginal as well as anal areas clean. Use warm water instead of soaps to clean the areas. Soaps can disrupt the pH of the vagina, irritate the area and cause inflammation. Hence, it is advised not to use harsh soaps, instead use completely natural soaps.
